The Zookeeper and the Zebra

Barnaby was a very strong and brave zookeeper. He used to be a champion arm-wrestler, but now he loved taking care of the animals. One day, the mayor’s daughter, Penelope, a very energetic young zebra with bright pink stripes, arrived at the zoo. Penelope loved to play pranks and make mischief. She thought being a mayor's daughter meant she could do whatever she wanted, and she was determined to make Barnaby’s life a little bit silly.

Barnaby, who was used to calm lions and gentle giraffes, was taken by surprise by Penelope's constant jumping, bouncing, and giggling. She would hide his keys, swap the labels on the food, and even try to teach the monkeys how to do cartwheels! Barnaby would try his best to keep Penelope from getting into too much trouble, but she always seemed to be one step ahead.

One sunny afternoon, while Penelope was chasing butterflies around the monkey enclosure, some sneaky raccoons escaped from their habitat and started causing chaos! They started scattering the food, opened the gates to the aviary, and almost freed the zoo's mischievous birds. Barnaby, seeing the zoo in disarray, was about to panic, but then Penelope, surprisingly, sprang into action! She used her bouncy energy to help Barnaby corner the raccoons, and her quick thinking helped round up the scattered birds.

From that day on, Barnaby and Penelope became the best of friends. Barnaby learned how to be a bit more silly, and Penelope learned that even a mayor’s daughter needs to be responsible sometimes. Together, they kept the zoo safe, happy, and full of laughter, proving that even the most different friends can make the best team.
