The Whispering Woods and Lily
Deep in the Whispering Woods, lived a little girl named Lily. Her home was a cozy treehouse, hidden amongst the tallest pines. Lily wasn't like the other children; she spoke a sing-song language, loved the company of squirrels and birds, and had a magical way of understanding the forest's secrets. One sunny morning, a kind park ranger named Mr. Ben, stumbled upon Lily's treehouse while exploring. He was amazed by her unique way of life, and how the forest creatures seemed to be her closest friends. Lily, though shy, was curious about Mr. Ben. He showed her his whistle, and she showed him her special dance, a swirling mix of leaves and steps, that called the butterflies to flutter around her. Mr. Ben learned to understand some of Lily’s singing speech, a language full of the forest's rhythms. They spent their days playing hide-and-seek among the trees, Mr. Ben learning about the forest from Lily and Lily discovering the wonders of the human world from Mr. Ben. But as time passed, other rangers began to hear of Lily. They believed she needed to come into town and be like them. Lily and Mr. Ben were worried, Lily had never known town, her home was with the trees and animals, how could they change? So Mr Ben decided to do the right thing and protect her from the chaos of the town. He built her a larger and even more secret tree house, with all the needed comforts. Mr Ben visited her often and they shared their days playing and talking and learning. And Lily and her furry and feathered friends continued to thrive in their special corner of the whispering woods, a secret kept safe between a girl and a ranger.
