The Secret of the Singing Squirrel
Penny the Squirrel was a very clever veterinarian, especially when it came to helping her animal friends. She even had her own radio show, 'Critter Care,' where she answered questions about all sorts of animal problems. But Penny had a secret: she was shy! When a very friendly and handsome fox named Finley called into her show and asked to meet her, Penny panicked. Finley loved the sound of her voice and her helpful advice but Penny worried he wouldn't like her real fluffy form.
So, Penny came up with a plan. She asked her super confident friend, Rosie the Rabbit, to pretend to be her for a day. Rosie, with her long, graceful ears and bright smile, looked like how Penny imagined herself. Rosie agreed and went to meet Finley at the town square. Finley and Rosie hit it off immediately. Rosie, pretending to be Penny, told amazing stories of her adventures while treating animal ailments. Finley was smitten. Meanwhile, Penny watched from afar, sometimes chirping her helpful vet advice from behind a bush. Things got tricky, though. Rosie started to really enjoy the attention, and Finley found himself a little confused by the difference in the "two" Pennys. One was so confident and graceful, the other was small and shy but had all the answers!
One day, Finley found Penny hiding behind a tree when she accidentally dropped her glasses and needed help. Finley instantly recognized her voice and it dawned on him that Penny and the radio host were one in the same! Finley was at first confused, but he was very understanding that Penny was shy and he had fun with Rosie, and knew Rosie was not the one he really was hoping to get to know. He confessed that he liked Penny for her helpful heart and amazing knowledge. Penny and Finley became great friends and Penny even started to do her radio show on live camera as she gained more confidence in her beautiful, bushy tail. Rosie remained her friend but now as herself. And they were all very happy!
