The Magical Meadow of Maybes
Lily the Ladybug loved sunshine and giggling. She also loved her best friend, Buzz the Bumblebee. Buzz had asked Lily to be his forever friend, a promise sealed with a shimmering drop of honey. Lily said yes! But then, she started to hear stories about the other bugs in the meadow. Old Mr. Cricket was always singing sweet songs to different ladybugs, and Mrs. Ant seemed to have many, many best friends, not just one. Lily started to wonder, 'What if I have other best friends too?' She saw the fireflies twinkling at night, and the grasshoppers hopping through the tall grass, and even the grumpy caterpillar looked like he might be fun to play with. Lily started to feel unsure about her promise to Buzz. She imagined having other giggling buddies. So she decided to have a chat with the wise old caterpillar who lived on a large mushroom. He said, 'Lily, the best part about friendships is that they grow like the flowers in the meadow. Sometimes you’ll have more than one friend at a time, and that’s okay. Just be honest and kind to everyone. And especially keep your heart open for true friends'. Lily’s heart felt lighter. She realized she could still be Buzz’s special friend, even if she made other friends too. And she learned that true friendship means being kind, honest, and having fun together, no matter how many friends you make.
