The Little Bear of the Big Mountains
Lily and Tom were the best of friends, even though they were brother and sister. Their dad was an explorer, always off discovering new places. One day, he didn't come back from his trip to the Big Mountains! Lily and Tom were very worried, so they decided to go find him.
They packed their backpacks with yummy snacks and warm sweaters and set off into the mountains. It was a big and beautiful place with tall, snowy peaks and sparkling rivers. As they walked deeper, they heard a tiny whimpering sound. Behind a big bush, they found a little, fluffy white bear cub! He looked lost and scared.
"Oh, you poor thing!" Lily exclaimed. They soon found out that two grumpy men with big nets had been chasing the cub, wanting to catch him. Lily and Tom decided they had to help the little bear. They named him Pip.
They carefully led Pip through the mountains, hiding him from the grumpy men. Pip was a very playful cub, always tumbling and rolling in the snow. He also had a great nose for finding berries and sweet roots, which they all munched on. As they journeyed, Lily and Tom taught Pip how to climb over rocks and follow their footsteps. In return, Pip showed them the secret paths only animals knew.
Their search for their dad led them higher and higher into the mountains. One day, they came upon a small cabin. It was their dad's! They hugged him tight, so happy he was safe. Then, the grumpy men showed up, still trying to catch Pip! Lily, Tom, and their dad worked together to trick the men, using Pip’s playful antics to their advantage. They chased the grumpy men away and sent them tumbling down a snowy hill.
With the grumpy men gone, Pip was safe and sound. Lily, Tom, and their dad decided to bring Pip back to his home where other polar bears lived. As they waved goodbye to Pip, they knew that they would never forget their adventure in the Big Mountains and the little bear who became their friend.
