The Friendship Triangle

Once upon a time, in a cozy little town, lived three best friends: Alex, a cheerful girl who loved to draw; Stu, a kind boy who was great at building things; and Ed, a silly boy who always made everyone laugh. They were as different as can be, but they loved spending time together.

One sunny summer, they all decided to go to a summer camp in the woods. When they arrived, there was a mix-up! Alex was assigned to a cabin with Stu and Ed, instead of the girls' cabin. At first, it was a bit awkward. Alex felt a little shy around the boys, Stu worried about making a girl feel comfortable, and Ed was too busy telling jokes to notice anything was different.

Over the next few days, they started to learn about each other. Alex loved to tell stories, and Stu would help her bring them to life with drawings. Ed, with his silly antics, kept everyone's spirits high, especially when they felt a little homesick. They began to play games, explored the forest, and even built a magnificent birdhouse together.

Now, here is where it got a little tricky. Stu started to like Alex's stories and her creative way of seeing things. And, Alex found that Ed’s jokes made her giggle and that he was really sweet, and Ed secretly wished Stu wasn't so good at building things, because it made him look up to him. It was like they were in a friendship triangle where everyone thought someone else was extra special.

They didn't know how to say how they felt, and for a bit it was difficult. One night, while stargazing, they realized something important. They didn’t need to like each other more than as friends to be a group, and how much they all cared for each other was what was most important. It didn't matter who thought who was the best, or who they wanted to be with most, because what they had was special. They had built a bond that wasn’t about being each other’s biggest fan but that they had come together as friends. They understood they liked each other in different ways, as friends, not more than friends. And that was ok!

The rest of the summer was filled with laughter, games, and adventures. They understood that different kinds of friendship were all wonderful. And when it was time to go home, they said their goodbyes knowing that their special friendship triangle would always keep them close, no matter where they were.
