The Case of the Missing Cookies
Lily was a bright-eyed squirrel with a fluffy tail and a love for baking. She was especially known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies. One sunny morning, Lily baked a whole batch of cookies for the annual Forest Festival, a big celebration where everyone shared their favorite treats. But when she went to gather her cookies, they were gone! Vanished!
A wise old owl named Professor Hoot, who was the judge of the baking contest, decided to gather everyone for an important meeting, a 'Case of the Missing Cookies'. The first to be called upon was Bartholomew Badger, a grumpy fellow who was known to have a sweet tooth. Bartholomew looked grumpy, but was honest. He claimed he hadn't touched a single cookie. Then came Penelope Possum, who always had sticky paws, but she said that she was too busy practicing for the juggling competition.
Lily felt a little scared. She missed her cookies so much! But then, she saw something out of the corner of her eye, a tiny trail of crumbs near the hollow of the big oak tree. She followed the crumbs, and there she found a family of field mice! Their whiskers were covered in chocolate, and they were all giggling with delight.
It turned out that the little mice, who were too shy to ask, couldn't resist the delicious smell of Lily's cookies. They hadn't meant any harm, they were just very hungry. Lily smiled, she wasn't mad. Instead, she decided to share all of her ingredients and help the field mice bake their own mini-batch of cookies for everyone to try at the festival. The mice, with little helping paws from Lily, proudly showed off their new mini-cookies. The forest animals all cheered and applauded and the festival was even better than ever!
