Penny the Explorer
Penny was a curious little squirrel with a bright, bushy tail and an even brighter idea: she was going to be an explorer! Instead of nuts, Penny collected secrets. She had a special notebook, a tiny, leaf-bound journal, where she wrote down everything she observed about the other forest creatures.
She wrote about Barnaby Bear's love for honey, how Fiona Fox always seemed to find the juiciest berries, and even how old Mr. Owl could hoot in different pitches! It was all very important explorer stuff, she thought. One day, while Penny was distracted chasing a particularly glittery beetle, her journal fell open. It was found by Barnaby Bear and Fiona Fox. They were curious about what Penny wrote and started reading out loud.
Barnaby read that he loved to nap in the sun. Fiona felt a bit embarressed that her messy den was mentioned. Now they felt like Penny was spying and they were mad! They decided to play a trick on Penny, hiding her acorns and making her find them. Penny was sad that her friends didn't understand her explorer ways. She realised that it wasn't right to write about her friend's private stuff.
Penny decided to make things right. She gathered her friends together and explained that she was sorry for making them feel bad. Barnaby and Fiona accepted her apology, they understood she did not mean any harm. Penny and her friends now played and laughed together. From that day, Penny the explorer still explored, but this time she made sure that the secrets she collected were only shared with those who wanted to share. And she realised that friendship was the best discovery of all!
