Captain Calico's Curious Comeback

Captain Calico, a brave but slightly clumsy pirate, sailed the sparkling seas for many years, searching for the legendary Giggles Gem. One day, a giant wave swept him far, far away! When he finally found his way back to his home island, ten whole summers had passed. He was so excited to see his best friend, Rosie the Parrot, and his cozy little hut. But when he arrived, he found a fancy, sparkly palace where his hut used to be! Inside, a very rich-looking parrot with a monocle, who called herself 'Madam Feathers,' was lounging on a pile of shiny treasure. 'Excuse me,' Captain Calico chirped, 'But where did my hut go?' Madam Feathers puffed up her feathers. 'Your hut? Oh, that old thing? Well, I used your old treasure map to find more treasure, and now I live here. And who are you anyway?' Captain Calico was very confused! He explained that he was Captain Calico and that the treasure map was his. Madam Feathers laughed. 'Nonsense! You're just a silly pirate. Besides, everyone thinks I am the greatest pirate and always was!' She'd even used Captain Calico’s old stash of shiny buttons for her fancy clothing! Captain Calico couldn't believe it! He missed his simple life. He didn't care about treasure, he just wanted his hut and his friend Rosie back. Luckily, Rosie hadn’t left, she had just been hiding because Madam Feathers was so mean! Rosie and Captain Calico hatched a plan! Using the Giggles Gem they were able to turn the palace back into a humble and beautiful hut and Madam Feathers into a much kinder parrot and they all became friends once again. Captain Calico learned that true treasures were friendship, and having your best friends to hang out with. And sometimes, that's much more valuable than any shiny buttons or gold.
